Recommendations for Implementation • Use with, not instead of, lumped model at same time step • Part of natural progression to finer scales Lumped 6-hr Lumped 1-hour Distributed 1-hour • Calibration is good training process for forecasting • Current: • DHM: operation in NWS for headwaters, locals • HL-RDHM: Large area, soil moisture, FFG, etc • Feedback to OHD HIC Conference July 29-31, 2008

Current Work • SAC parameterization • Modifications in dry areas, new value of ZPERC, derivation of SSURGO-based parameters • Snow-17 parameterization • UADJ, MFMAX, MFMIN • Routing of subsurface flows • UCI PhD candidate Behnaz Khakbaz • Snow Science Steering Team • Need to react to Eric Anderson’s emails • DMIP 2 • DHM-TF • Prototype testing, further science development • Collaboration with NASA • Assimilation of snow covered area, derivation of daily PE • Migration to CHPS
