  1. Universal Guide Installation Please read and understand the installation instructions fully before proceeding.

  2. Some helpful tips to consider: • Pre-install the wire and braid before mounting the guide into the chassis. • You have multiple options for retaining wire and braid: • Use the two small holes in the front of the guide to install M2 grub screws (not supplied) to help keep the wire and braid in place. • Use two M2 grub screws (not supplied) in the top of the braid holders to help keep the wire and braid in place. • Use guide spacers between the bottom of the chassis and top of the guide to fine tune the guide adjustment. • The guide can be easily trimmed and sanded to fit your application (follow the notes later in this instructional presentation) OR

  3. Test Fit Step 1: Test fit the guide. Insert the guide mounting post into the guide holder on the slot car chassis. Do NOT force the guide post into the guide holder. The following pages discuss best practices for adjusting your universal guide to fit your application.

  4. Test Fit- Continued File Try to keep file parallel to post surface while sanding Step 2: If the guide post does not go into the guide holder, lightly sand the guide post and test fit again. Continue testing and sanding until the guide post goes into the holder with no resistance. OR Using medium/ fine grit sandpaper, evenly sand around post. Notice the sanding is evenly distributed around post

  5. Setting Guide Height Step 3: Set the guide height. With the guide in the chassis, place the chassis on a tuning block or on your track. Allow the guide to touch the block/track and mark the guide mounting post where it comes out of the guide holder. NOTE: Trimming the guide blade may be necessary for your specific track configuration. Side cutters are recommended for this operation if necessary. Add shims to set desired height before marking/ cutting post.

  6. Trimming Step 4: Trim the guide mounting post. You can trim the post a couple different ways. The easiest is to use sharp side cutters. Simply place the cutters on your mark and cut. The other way is to support the post on a flat surface, and using a hobby knife, put the blade on your mark and press down firmly. Please use eye protection to prevent injury as the excess post can fly away quickly. Option 1 Option 2

  7. Sand Blade Edge Step 5: You may find that the bottom edge of the guide blade is slightly flared. This is a normal part of the printing process and is easily removed with a light sanding or filing. You may also choose to round the leading edge of the guide blade which you can do with either sandpaper or a file. While not necessary, this will help the guide ride over any bumps in the slot, including poor track joints or debris.

  8. Final Installation Step 6: Install the guide. Using the provided mounting screw, install the guide into your chassis. Make sure not to cross-thread the screw in the mounting post. Gently tighten the screw until snug. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN the screw or you may break the mounting post. Final assembly should look similar to the picture.
