Information Management Resource Kit (IMARK) • The goal of the IMARK initiative is to mobilize and build upon existing resources to create a comprehensive suite of distance learning resources for information management and exchange. IMARK will support agencies, institutions and networks world-wide, and to allow them to work together and share information more effectively within a virtual community of practice.

  3. IMARK MODULES Each IMARK module focuses on a specific area of information management, with a curriculum designed, developed and reviewed by subject matter experts. The modules are being developed using the latest methods in e-learning, providing an interactive environment for self-paced learning.

  4. IMARK SUBJECT AREAS Management of Electronic Documents Investing in Agricultural Information Building Electronic Communities and Networks Digitization and Digital Libraries

  5. Management ofElectronic Documents This Module deals with the collection, archiving, management and dissemination of electronic documents and associated images. Digitization and Digital Libraries This module introduces the workflows, processes, technologies and skills involved in the creation, management and distribution of digital libraries .

  6. Digitization & Digital Libraries Libraries today have a major opportunity to assume new roles by working with and disseminating electronic documents within the evolving knowledge societies. This subject area is being developed in support of librarians to provide them with the conceptual and practical knowledge for the digitization of collections, and the creation and provision of access to digital libraries.

COURSE DESCRIPTION • Unit 1 - Conceptual overview • Unit 2 - Electronic documents and formats • Unit 3 - Metadata standards and subject indexing • Unit 4 - Creation and management of digital documents • Unit 5 - Creation and sharing of digital libraries • Unit 6 - Example of digital library software - Greenstone
