  1. The Salvation event The ascension to the throne

  2. The account is found in Acts 1:1-11 • This is not a ‘happy ending’ • This is the next phase of God’s plan of redemption • [Redemption means: to buy – [purchasing a slave for his freedom] to pay a ransom and to pay to end a contract]

  3. 2 Questions, • Where did Jesus ascend to? • Who saw what happened?

  4. The ascension...... • A quiet affair? • (Think of Jesus’ birth) • A very public affair (Col 2 v 15) • Is this good news?

  5. What happened next? • He entered the heavenly tabernacle [Hebrews 9 v 1 – 15] • He offered His own blood, once for all time • Redemption is complete – the price is paid • Also He intercedes for us (intervenes on our behalf)

  6. The good news so far...... • The Ascension is real • Creation saw it • Satan and all his demons witnessed it • Jesus is the VICTOR. He has all power • His blood was offered once for all time for all people – nothing else has to be done..... • Except make it apply to you (treasure hunt time)

  7. And, He’s coming back again • Some similarities: Same place Not quietly All creation will see Satan will be defeated Restoration of all things

  8. You’ve seen the past and the future, what about the present? • Read 2 Corinthians 5 v 17 – 21 carefully: • Jesus swaps your old life for a new one • A divine gift – He reconciles us to Him • Now he wants us to reconcile people to Him • The treasure is already there for them (v17) provided they reach out to get it • We are His ambassadors

  9. Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved, but how can they call on Him unless they believe in Him – and how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him. And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them (could this mean us?)

  10. A personal story

  11. Finally remember this..... • Jesus came to earth and was born as a man • Jesus lived – as a man (Gospels) • Jesus died – as a man (Gospels) • Jesus rose again – as a man (Gospels) • Jesus ascended – as a man (Acts 1) • Jesus sits in heaven – as a man (1 Tim 2 v 5) • Jesus will return again – as a man (Revelation etc)

  12. Now you can see how much He has given up for us, • The question is, what need we set aside for Him in order to be His ambassadors.
