  1. SALVATION MANS NEED WAS FOR SALVATION Salvation represents the mission of the Savior, and the purpose and plan of God

  2. SALVATION • It is vital for us to know what God’s revealed word has to say about salvation, for it is the only remedy for SIN; without this salvation man is helplessly and hopelessly lost.

  3. SALVATION • We need to see, and understand that Jesus of Nazareth is the predetermined and purposed SAVIOR. • He the Christ is man’s only hope for being saved.

  4. SALVATION • Salvation is God’s desire for all men: • 1 Tim 2:4-5 • Who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

  5. SALVATION • 2 Pet 3: 8-9 • But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone toperish, but everyone to come to repentance,

  6. WE NEED TO UNDERSTAND • God has called us to REPENTANCE. We need to see our own sinful, helpless situation, and see our sins as God sees them. We are considered enemies of God, something detestable and worthy of destruction. Then, and only then can we see our need for God, and his provision of Christ on the Cross! To Forgive, Reconcile, Sanctify, and Save us from our lost way of life.

  7. SALVATION • Salvation is God’s design for lost man. • 2 Tim 1:9 • Who has saved us and called us to a holy life-not because of anything we have done but because of his ownpurpose and grace this grace was given us “IN CHRIST JESUS” before the beginning of time,

  8. SALVATION/ETERNAL LIFE • John 3: 14-16 &36…..(Numbers 21:1-9) • Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the son of Man must be lifted up that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternallife…. 36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s Wrath remains on him.

  9. Moses and the snake • To understand this passage, we need to understand the picture. Israel was involved in sin, and God sent snakes into the camp to bite and kill them. God also had a pole with a snake on it, made so those who were bitten by the snakes, could look upon this pole, and would not die. This act of faith healed them. Like wise we look upon the cross, the pole that Jesus was lifted up on, and we are healed, from our sin.

  10. SALVATION PROCLAMATION • Salvation is the proclamation of: “THE GOOD NEWS” • Romans 1:16 • I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes; first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.

  11. SALVATION/PROCLAMATION • Acts 13:26 • Brothers, children of Abraham, and you God-fearing Gentiles, it is to us that this message of salvation has been sent. • Eph 1:13 • And you also were included “IN CHRIST” when you heard the word of truth, the Gospel of your salvation.

  12. SALVATION/GOOD NEWS • The term Gospel in the new testament means Good News. The translations of the Bible use these two terms interchangeably. If the texts says “good news “it could also have said “Gospel.” • THE good news, is one particular unique teaching, that the Apostles taught. It is about your salvation.

  13. SALVATION/GOOD NEWS • The Gospel is the power of salvation. • Rom 1:16-17 • I am not ashamed of the gospel because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes; first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. “For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

  14. SALVATION/GOOD NEWS The power of the Good News, is the salvation of people (we are saved) from sin, and its penalty. • 1 Cor 1:18 • For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God .

  15. SALVATION/GOOD NEWS • Salvation is the urgent message of the good news. • 2 Cor 6:2 • For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you .” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.

  16. SALVATION IS FOR NOW • Salvation is available now, in this life. This is not something to be put off and worked out after you die. It will be too late. • Heb 9:27 Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.

  17. SALVATION/IN CHRIST • Salvation is to be had only “IN CHRIST JESUS”. • Acts 4:12 • Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.

  18. SALVATION/IN CHRIST • Heb 2:10 • In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the author of theirsalvation perfect through suffering. • The one who is made the author is Christ Jesus, and it is he who suffered.

  19. Salvation provided by God by his purpose and grace • 2 Tim 1:9 • Who has saved us and called us to a holy life – not because of anything wehave done but because of his ownpurpose and grace. This grace was given us “IN CHRIST” Jesus before the beginning of time,

  20. Salvation provided by God by his purpose and grace • Titus 3:4-7 • But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things wehad done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,

  21. Salvation provided by God by his purpose and grace • Titus 3:4-7 • Whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.

  22. THE CHRISTIANS HOPE ! • This passage tells of the hope all Christians have, it is eternal life. The grave is not the end, we have been called into an eternal hope, LIFE. Life everlasting with a God who loves us.

  23. Salvation provided by God by his purpose and grace • Eph 2:1-10 • As for you, you were dead in your transgression and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.

  24. Salvation provided by God by his purpose and grace • Eph 2:1-10 • All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thought, Like the rest, we were bynature objects of wrath, But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions

  25. Salvation provided by God by his purpose and grace • Eph 2:1-10 • It is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms “IN CHRIST” Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us “IN CHRIST” Jesus.

  26. Salvation provided by God by his purpose and Grace • Eph 2:1-10 • For it is by grace you have beensaved, through faith – not by works, so that no one can boast, For we are God’s workmanship, created “IN CHRIST” Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

  27. Salvation provided by God by his purpose and grace • 1 Peter 1:9-18 • But if anyone does not have them, he is near sighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins. Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall,

  28. Salvation provided by God by his purpose and grace • 1 Pet 1:9-18 • And you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of this body,

  29. Salvation provided by God by his purpose and grace • 1 Pet 1:9-18 • Because I know that I will soon put it aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me, And I will make every effort to see that after my departure you will always be able to remember these things, We did not follow cleverly invented stories when we told you about the power and coming of Our Lord Jesus Christ

  30. Salvation provided by God by his purpose and Grace • 1 Pet 1:9-18 • But we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For he received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain.

  31. Salvation is from life’s lost ness and futility • Man is lost, not because he has not done this or that, he is lost because he is a sinner. • Luke 19:10 • For the Son of man came to seek and to save what was lost. • Jesus came because man was alreadylost, and needed to be saved!!!

  32. Salvation is saved from sin • Mat 1:21 • She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people fromtheir sins.

  33. Salvation is saved from Sin • Gal 1: 2&4 • Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, whogave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,

  34. THIS GREAT SALVATION • This salvation is a process, not merely an event. From Baptism unto Glory ! • 2 Th 2:13-15 • But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through thesanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.

  35. THIS GREAT SALVATION • 2 Th 2:13-15 • He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.

  36. Salvation now and future • 1 Pet 1:3-9 • Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a livinghope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade- kept in heaven for you,

  37. Salvation now and future • 1 Pet 1:3-9 • Who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of thesalvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though

  38. Salvation now and Future • 1 Pet 1: 3-9 • Refined by fire- may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvationof your souls.

  39. Salvation can be lost • The Scriptures do not teach once saved always saved.. • Heb 3:12-14 • See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart thatturns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.

  40. Salvation can be lost • Heb 3: 12-16 • We have come to share “IN CHRIST” ifwe hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first. As has just been said: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion. Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt?

  41. Salvation can be lost • 1 Cor 15: 1-6 • Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the Gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise , you have believed in vain.

  42. Salvation can be lost • 1 Cor 15: 1-4 • For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

  43. SALVATION • SALVATION IS NOT EARNED, IT IS A GREAT GIFT FROM GOD. LET US NOT NEGLECT SUCH A GREAT GIFT. HE DID NOT OWE IT TO US, AND WE DESERVE DEATH FOR OUR SIN AND REBELLION. THIS GIFT CAME WITH A GREAT COST TO GOD. • THE CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE DIED FOR HIS CREATION!!!!
