Questioning the Author. QtA is meant to help students understand what they read. Students need to ask queries while they are reading text. Some good questions that students need to ask while reading are: What is the author trying to tell us here?

Questioning the Author • QtA is meant to help students understand what they read. • Students need to ask queries while they are reading text. • Some good questions that students need to ask while reading are: • What is the author trying to tell us here? • Why is the author trying to tell us this? • Teachers need to let the children talk more than they do during deep conversation about text. • Steps to follow when teaching QtA: • analyze the text, develop queries, have students read, ask queries, and discuss the text. • Valerie Adams
