  3. Bitter Cold TonightComparable to January 13, 2013 and coldest since February 2011 for some areas. TONIGHT JANUARY 13, 2013 Forecast lows 15 to 25 degrees below normal for northern areas, and 5 to 15 degrees below normal south.

  4. Temperature Recovery Begins… TODAY FRIDAY Daytime temperatures by Friday forecast to be 20 to 30 degrees warmer!

  5. Week at Glance Tonight Bitter cold temperatures with dangerous wind chill readings. No precipitation expected! Tuesday– Wednesday Gradual temperature recovery that will accelerate by Wednesday. Still below average for daytime highs. Precipitation not expected. Thursday-FridayApproach of a warmer, Pacific low will bring increasing clouds and a chance of precipitation (mostly snow) to mainly central and southern areas later Thursday into Friday morning. SC/SW areas look to have best chances. WeekendNo big weather systems expected. Predominately dry. Daytime temperatures near to slightly below average.

  7. Upper Level Forecast Chart(Image is Moisture) Tonight Tonight: Very cold and dry northwest flow dominates. The arctic grip will only strengthen with bitter cold temperatures areawide and dangerously cold wind chill values for northern portions of the area especially during the evening.  

  8. Brutal Wind Chills!Evening Activities, Bus Stop Tuesday 7PM TONIGHT 7AM TUESDAY DANGEROUSLY COLD WIND CHILL READINGS OF -20°F TO -30°F FOR THE NORTHERN MOUNTAIN REGION WITH SUB-ZERO READINGS NORTH.

  9. Upper Level Forecast Chart(Image is Moisture) Tuesday Tuesday: Area of low pressure west of northern Baja will be slowly moving eastward. Temperatures slowly moderate after bitter cold start to the day.

  10. Upper Level Forecast Chart(Image is Moisture) Wednesday Wednesday: Moderating temperatures beneath a quiet westerly flow aloft. Morning inversions locally strong especially the northern and western valleys.

  11. Upper Level Forecast Chart(Image is Moisture) Thursday Thursday: Weakening low aloft moves into Arizona. Pacific moisture increasing ahead of the low likely to result in areas of precipitation favoring central/southern areas during afternoon into Thu night. Precip mostly in the form of snow.

  12. Upper Level Forecast Chart(Image is Moisture) Friday Friday: Cooler/colder air filtering south behind the departing low. Weaker clipper-type system could bring clouds and a few flurries to the northern mountains.

  13. Upper Level Forecast Chart(Image is Moisture) Weekend Outlook Saturday Sunday Weekend: Quiet but cool pattern indicated for Saturday, trending warmer Sunday. No big weather systems expected.
