  2. PROJECT Create a brochure on an ancient civilization including the following information: education, religion, customs, technology, food, housing, clothing and type of government.

  3. Do you understand the project? If You Do… If Not Ask your teacher for help Perfect! Perfect! Ask your librarian for help

  4. EGYPT ROME The first thing you need to do is choose an ancient civilization that you’d like to study. GREECE CHINA The MAYA

  5. The Research Process Should begin BEFORE you visit the library.

  6. Brainstorm

  7. What do you already know about your topic?

  8. What are the main questions that you need to answer?

  9. What are the KEYWORDS or PHRASES you will need in order to research your topic?

  10. Create a brochure on Ancient Rome including the following information: customs, religion, education, technology, housing, food, clothing and type of government. KEYWORDS Ancient Rome education religion customs technology food housing clothing government

  11. It may be necessary to rephrase (reword) some of your keywords in order to find information. For example: Ancient Rome = Ancient Romans All of your KEYWORDS and PHRASES will help you find information when you visit the Library.

  12. So, you’ve brainstormed, made a list of things you already know about your topic, and you have your keywords and phrases. Now you’re ready to head to the library to begin your research.

  13. You will find a variety of resources in your school library. Books Encyclopedias Almanacs Digital Resources The Internet Magazines Newspapers

  14. Try to use as many different types of resources as possible. If you are uncertain which resources are best for your project, ask your librarian for help.

  15. Good Resources Contain information that covers all the topics of your project (answers all the main questions) Should be Easy for You to Read and Understand Are Up to Date (Current)

  17. Whether you are using a book, an almanac, a magazine, an encyclopedia or the Internet make sure that: You can read it and understand it by yourself It is up to date It contains information that will help you with your project (It answers the main questions)

  18. Always Respect the Work of Others Make a list all the resources (books, magazines, Internet sites, etc.) that you’ve used to complete your project. Include this list (called a Bibliography) with your project so that your teacher knows where your information came from.

  19. Good Research is the key to a GREAT project!
