  4. Vision,mission, values • Organization goals : gender issues, promoting of equality between women and man • Preoccupations: gender issues, political participation, education, images of women (media, arts), violence against women, women studies, women rights, children in need

  5. Brief overview .... • Since 1992 Association of Women Journalists in Romania "Ariadna" organized many projects, programs, conferences, training courses on equality of chances between women and men, training for media and democracy, media and violence against women; • Contributed to the promotion of equal opportunities and laws against domestic violence by the Romanian Parliament; • In 1995 Ariadna Association participated at the For World Conference on Women in Beijing organized by UN; • Ariadna has supported the establishment of the first Women's Secretariat Ministry of Labour in Romania (1996); • Contributed to the National Agency for Family Protection (ANPF) and National Agency for Equal Opportunities (ANES).

NGOs activities: • Symposiums (“Women in politics”); • Cultural events: book launching, university lectures (”Women Planet”), Ariadna Club, poetry shows, theatre play; • Press issues for promoting women image radio & TV programs features, essays, books); • Stop violence! Mass media and violence againstwomen, PHARE LIEN financed programmme (1996-1997) ; • GE-ME-RO – Gender – Media – Romania (Women and Media in the Romanian Post-communistSociety), in co-operation with International Training Centre for Women (ITW),Amsterdam (1998-2000) in Matra for Democracy; • No Violence in the Third Millennium – Women Against Violence (1999), USIS financed programmme, in cooperation with the Institute for Crime Prevention of Romanian Police

Cultural Programs • Show dedicated to Maria Tanase, with the participation of prominent art ists (Floarea Calota, Adriana Trandafir and others) (1992-1996); • Exhibitions of paintings (Elron - On the trail of the Bible, Bucharest, 1999, Miriam Benhaim - The bird flight (2000); • Book launches in Bucharest : Romanian writers from outside Romania; • Donations of books forAssociation of Romanians in Vojvodina, Serbia (1998) and students from high schools from Chisinau (2002); • 20 books edited by ADAM Publishing House in cooperation with Ariadna Association.

VARIOUS ACTIVITIES... • Ariadna organized various visits to the Republic of Moldova for journalists; • Women against Violence,, in partnership with the Coalition VIF (2004-2005); • Youth Radio Romania hostedAriadna’s radioprogram The price is your life on preventing and combating trafficking in human beings (2004); • Involved about 100 observers to monitor parliamentary elections presidential elections in Romania (2004).
