  2. Perception Is this how we see Africa? A continent of war, famine and poverty?

  3. Africa is very well endowed with natural resources for its development requirements. Africa has:- • Oil & gas, • Valuable and strategically important mineral resources, • some of the largest rivers in the worlds with tremendous hydro-electric potential; • valuable tropical forests, • a tremendous potential for the production of a wide range of food items and animal products, • many natural attractions of immense tourist value‐ including the largest and most varied wealth of the worlds remaining wildlife resources etc. It is estimated that over 30% of the remaining natural resource reserves of the world today are in Africa.

  4. Unfortunately and despite the abundant natural resources, it remains the world's poorest and most underdeveloped continent with over 46% of the population living in abject poverty (Representing about 31% of the poor of the world.

An estimated 1.1 billion people out of theglobal population of 7.2 billion live in Africa. {That is about 15.3% of the global population}. • Africa covers a land area of about 30.2 million square kilometers (11.7 million squaremiles) that is 20.4 percent of the total land area of the earth or about six percent of the total surface area of theearth including the seas. • Africa is the world's second-largest and most-populous continent. • Africa’s GDP of US $1.88 Trillion {in 2011} was about 2% of the world GDP – IMF • The share of world trade remains below 3%

Our AICC approach of CC in Africa focuses on the extent of governments, private sector and civil society acting collectively, exercise their collective and shared responsibility to drive and hold the forces of economic power accountable to mankind by ensuring that business enterprises create and produce wealth responsibly, while meeting legal, ethical, economic, social and environmental responsibilities placed on them by stakeholders, in order to create higher and sustainable standards of living in communities, whilst ensuring competitive excellence, good governance, sustainable longevity, innovativeness, profitability of the business enterprise within a conducive environment created by an accountable government
