  4. RUIMTE • ruimte die aan de goden is voorbehouden =temenos. Een temenos, een ‘heiligdom’, is alles van een heilig bos of een grot tot en met een ommuurd terrein met binnen de muur een tempel en/of andere religieuze architectuur • tempels zijn ‘woningen van de goden’ en herbergen veelal een godenbeeld of godenbeelden • tempels zijn geen plaatsen voor rituele handelingen: die vinden vóór de tempel plaats, bij het altaar, of elders in de temenos bij gebouwen die voor een specifiek doel bestemd zijn • ‘heilige ruimte’ staat apart. Er kunnen toegangs-restricties en gedragsrestricties gelden
