Automated Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast ADS-B- means by which aircraft, aerodrome vehicles and other objects can automatically transmit and/or receive data such as identification, position and additional data, as appropriate, in a broadcast mode via a data link. There are 2 possible functions of theADS-Bmessage: ADS–B OUTbroadcasts information about aircraft through an onboard transmitter directly to surrounding aircraft and ATC body. Why have we decided to choose Iridium satellite constellation as a channel of ADS-B messages transmission? 1) 100% global coverage; 2) Low latency due to signal travel; 3) High availability (Iridium: 66 satellites; Inmarsat: 11); 4) High productivity: ability to transmit data at a rate of 10 Mbit/s; 5) Intersatellite connection.
