Standards & Competencies • Specialists Public Health Training FPHM • Specialist register • Specialist trainee programmes • Registered or working towards the specialist or voluntary register • Practitioners • Health Promotion Competencies • Skills for Health : competencies for public health practice • Accredited programmes eg PATH tobacco training • Pay modernisation eg Knowledge and skills framework (KSF) • others ….?

North of Scotland Public Health Network • Health Improvement Workforce Development Project • Activity has included: • Mapped training provision across 5 NHS Boards • Identified gaps in provision • Future actions include: • open access to agreed courses eg video conference • commission courses across Boards & outwith • annual CPD programme • share best practice

Learning & Development Group • Formed in 2004 • Created in order to • ensure continued professional development of public health staff in line with NHS Grampian policy and individual annual performance review. • Membership includes • Public Health Unit, CHP/CHSCPs, RGU & University of Aberdeen, Learning & Development & Nursing.

  6. Learning & Development Group (2) Activities: • Annual needs assessment undertaken • Annual plan based on 10 key areas of public health • Quarterly review in place • Lead process of supported academic study • 2006/07 focus on Public Health capacity development • Recipients and providers • All information available on Hi-Net
