Confusianism: • Ensure social order and good government. • Best leader was one who led by good moral example. • Stressed the importance of individual duties, responsibilities, and respecting one’s parents(filial piety). 2. Legalism: Grew out of teachings of Hanfeizi. Concerned with social order, but believed the only way to achieve order was through strict laws and punishments.
