  2. Childhood and Schoolyears Shelley was born in Horsham, England He had five sisters and a brother In 1804 he entered Eton college On 10 April 1810, he matriculated at University College, Oxford Got sent down from Oxford after publishing “The Necessity of Atheism”

  3. First Marriage His first wife was Harriet Westbrook Shelley was 19 years old, Harriet was 16 On 28 July 1814, Shelley abandoned his pregnant wife and his child

  4. Mary Shelley Her father was the political philosopher William Godwin. Her mother was the philosopher and feminist Mary Wollstonecraft. She met Percy while he was visiting her father’s home and bookshop in London.

  5. Connections with Byron P. B. Shelley met Byron in Switzerland They had conversations that had invigorating effect on Shelley Shelley was inspired to write his "Hymn to Intellectual Beauty"

  6. Final Years in Italy and Shelley’s Death Early in 1818, the Shelleys left to Italy Percy wrote there his “Prometheus Unbound” On 8 July 1822, less than a month before his 30th birthday, Shelley drowned in a sudden storm
