  1. Georgia Animals S3L1 Students will investigate the habitats of different organisms and the dependence of organisms on their habitat. a. Differentiate between habitats of Georgia (mountains, marsh/swamp, coast, Piedmont, Atlantic Ocean) and the organisms that live there. b.   Identify features of green plants that allow them to live and thrive in different regions of Georgia. c.   Identify features of animals that allow them to live and thrive in different regions of Georgia. d.  Explain what will happen to an organism if the habitat is changed.   2. The squirrel lives in all regions of Georgia. Its habitat is a tree. This animal has thick fur which helps it to survive in its environment. The squirrel thrives in its habitat by climbing a tree. Its color is red and gray and brown. The squirrel is rat size . It moves by its rabbit feet. It eats nuts. The squirrel ‘s home is a tree.   3. The Woodpecker lives in all parts of Georgia. Its habitat is the trees. This animal has feathers which helps it to survive in its environment. The Woodpecker thrives in its habitat by using its beak to peck wood to catch bugs. Its color is black, white and red. The woodpecker is about the size of a small geese.   4. The bald eagle lives in the coastal marshes of Georgia. Its habitat is tall trees. This animal has very colorful feathers which keeps it warm in the winter. Its color helps it to survive in its environment. The bald eagles thrives in its habitat by killing its pray. Its color is white and brown. The bald eagle is a big bird. It moves very fast buy flying. It eats meat. The eagle ‘s home is in very tall trees. These are two interesting facts I learned. It can kill a deer. An eagle can be up to be two feet tall. Amber

  5. The Dolphin lives in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Georgia. Its habitat is the Atlantic Ocean. This animal has wet skin which helps it to survive in its environment. The dolphin thrives in its habitat by swimming away from predators. Its color is gray or blue. The dolphin is about 20 feet long. It moves very fast by swimming. It eats fish. The dolphin ‘s home is ocean. These are two interesting facts I learned. The Ocra is the killer whale. It is also a dolphin! Annabelle

This animal has blubber under its skin which helps it to survive in its environment. The Right Whale thrives in its habitat by swimming . Its color is white and black. The Right Whale is 60,000 to160,000 feet long and 11 to 18 millometers long. It moves very slow. It eats copepods and krill. The Right Whales ‘s home is the Atlantic Ocean. The Right Whale weighs 60000 to 160000 pounds. The Right Whale has blubber. Hannah

The otter thrives in its habitat by making shelter. Its color is dark brown on the top and gray on the bottom.. The river otter is 3 to 4 ½ feet. It Moves smoothly. It eats clam shells and fish. The river otters‘ home is in the Atlantic rivers. These are two interesting facts I learned. The river otters have 2 to 4 kits each month. They can eat 5 % of their own blubber weight. Isabel

The chipmunk thrives in its habitat by sharp claws. Its color is chestnut creamy stripes. The chipmunk is 6 inches long. It moves quickly. It eats nuts. The chipmunk‘s home is the mountain piedmont and coastal plain. These are two interesting facts I learned. The baby chipmunks leaves after 2 weeks.they Jonah
