  1. Revelation Seminars: Lesson # 3 • A brief review of the book of Revelation quickly reveals several crucial points: • 1 A terrifying, deadly, organized conflict between good and evil is taking place on this earth.

  2. 2Jesus, the Son of God, powerfully leads the forces of good with love, courage, wisdom, kindness, patience, integrity, gentleness, serenity, sympathy, compassion, tact and geniality. His leadership style is one of concern and fair play for even His worst enemies. He is worthy of our worship for He is our Creator and Redeemer.

  3. 3Someone, on the other hand, powerfully leads the forces of evil in relentless, devastating assaults upon Jesus and His people. That someone, according to the book of Revelation, is the devil and satan. As a leader he is militant, venomous, heartless, hateful and unscrupulous. Yet, incredible as it may seem, he also asks for our worship.

  4. We were created in the beginning with the desire to worship. The shocking sobering facts are that, everyone on this planet is, this very day, either worshiping Jesus or giving homage to satan. Many pay homage to satan innocently. They would turn from him in disgust if his evil strategies were exposed. The central purpose of this seminar is to expose the archenemy and to reveal Jesus, our Creator, Lord and Saviour.

  5. Rev. 2:10 1.The devil. Rev. 12:9 2.The great dragon, 3.Old serpent, 4.devil and 5.satan. Rev. 12:10 6.The accuser of the brethren 1. Satan’s many titles:What names or titles does Revelation give to satan? Satan is specifically mentioned 55 times in Revelation and is referred to indirectly scores of times as he works through his agents to destroy God’s work and His people.

  6. 2. Where did the devil come from? • Rev. 12:7-9 • “And there was war in Heaven: Michael and His angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels. And prevailed not; neither was their place found anymore in Heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent called the devil, and satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” See Luke 10:18

  7. 3. Why did he leave heaven? • See Revelation 12:7 - 9 • He was cast out because he sinned. • 2 Peter 2:4 • “For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgement”.

  8. 4. Who were cast out with satan? • Rev. 12:7-10: Answer: His angels. • 5. How many angels were cast out? • Rev. 12:3,4,7-9: Answer: One third of the total that was in Heaven. • Note: Other passages in the Bible comment on this subject: Job 38:7 says the morning stars sang together at Creation. Rev. 12:3 & 4 shows one third fell with satan. 2 Peter 2:4 confirms that God did not spare the angels who sinned. And Jude 6 confirms the angels did fall. Satan has incredible power to deceive and convince. We must never forget that staying close to Jesus is our only safety.

  9. 6. How did satan and His Angels Originate? • Colossians 1:16 • “For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him: And He is before all things and by Him all things consist.”

  10. 6. How did satan originate? • Note: Since Jesus created everything, He also created the angel who introduced sin into the Universe. However, Jesus did not create satan – satan is the being that Lucifer was transformed into when he CHOSE to SIN. How it must have torn the heart of Jesus to see rebellion develop in this great and beautiful angel till it separated him from God. So it is today. Sin always brings separation, heartache, sorrow and woe. But the God who is love (1 John 4:8,16) gives all His creatures the POWER OF CHOICE. Without that there is no REAL LOVE!

  11. 7.What was satan’s name and work before his fall? • a. Isaiah 14:12: His name was Lucifer. • b. Eze. 28:14: He was a covering cherub. • 8. How does the bible describe Lucifer? • Eze. 28:12-17: “…full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.” • 9. What caused Lucifer’s fall? (v.17) • a. Because of his beauty he became “lifted up.” • b. He said, “I will be like The Most High.” It boggles my mind! How could a created being want to be God? Sin is indeed a mystery.

  12. Note: • Lucifer wanted to rise above and rule over others, even God; Jesus, by contrast, took the humble form of man and became a servant. • (If we find ourselves speaking too often about ME, MYSELF and I, we had better be careful … that’s the Lucifer mentality! Lucifer had an “I” problem!)

  13. a. Rev. 12:9 “He deceiveth the whole world.” (deceiver) b. Rev. 12:10 He is an accuser (of the brethren) c. Rev. 2:10 He persecutes God’s people (persecutor) d. Rev. 2:13 He slays God’s people (slayer, murderer) e. Rev. 12:12 He has greatwrath (wrathful) f. Rev. 12:17 He makes war (warrior) Note:John 8:44 says partly: “He was a murderer from the beginning, … he is a liar and the father of it.” 10. Revelation Reveals satan’s True Character

  14. 11. How Far Will satan go to Deceive People? • 2 Cor. 11:13-15 • v. 14 Satan appears as an angel of light. • v. 15 His ministers appear as the ministers of righteousness. Note: Satan seldom appears as an evil being. He usually comes disguised as a friend, or even a Christian worker. This catches people off guard and deceives them.

  15. 12. Can satan really Work Miracles? • Revelation 16:13,14 says: • “They are spirits of devils working miracles.” Lazarus come forth!!

  16. 13. How Effective are satan’s Miracles? • Matthew 24:24 • “For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders, insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.” Note: Satan is so effective that in the judgement day many will think they are saved, when they are lost. (see Matt. 7:21-23)

  17. 14. Will satan Quote Scripture to Deceive? • Matthew 4:1,5,6 • Yes. He quoted scripture when tempting Jesus. • Note: • Misuse of scripture is satan’s best weapon.

  18. 15. Whom Does satan Hate in These Last Days? • See Revelation 12:17 • a. Those who • “… keep the commandments of God” And • b. “… have the testimony of Jesus.”

  19. 16. How Can I be Sure satan Will Not Deceive Me? • a. Isaiah 8:20: Check with God’s law and testimony. • b. Acts 17:11: Check with God’s scriptures. • c. John 7:17: If I am willing to obey, God will reveal to me His doctrine. • d. 2 Thess. 2:10-12: I must love the truth. Note: Be careful what you believe. It is a matter of life or death. Check everything by the word of God. It is obvious that a shallow knowledge of the scriptures will not prevent satan’s deceptions. Also, after much studying one must depend on God.

  20. 17. What Dangerous Animal is satan Like? • 1 Peter 5:8 • Be sober, be vigilant; for your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. • Revelation 12:12 • “… Woe to the inhabiters of the earth, and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth he hath but a short time.” Note: Satan realizes that the end of this world is near. What a tragedy that so few people realize the same.

  21. 18. Where will satan finally be placed? • Revelation 20:10 • “And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and false prophet are …”

  22. 19. What will the fire do to satan and his angels? • a. Eze. 28:18 It will turn him into ashes. • b. Heb. 2:14 He will be destroyed by death. • c. Eze. 28:19Never shalt thou be anymore. • Note: Satan will be completely put out of existence. What a blessed relief to know that someday the devil will be gone forever! We do not have to join satan in hell. Hell is not for human beings! See Matt. 25:41.

  23. 20. How can we defeat the devil? • See Revelation 12:11 • a. By the blood of the Lamb. • b. By the word of our testimony. • c. By being willing to die rather than knowingly disobey God.

  24. 21. Since Jesus Loves You And Died For You, Will You: • A. Ask Jesus to control your life? • B. Consider your acceptance of Jesus as Savior a life and death matter? And, • C. Bear testimony to others of His love? JESUS IS COMING SOON!
