  2. AZ SILC SILC’s mission is to promote the equality, inclusion, and choice for People with Disabilities through collaboration and public policy change.

  3. AZ SILC History • 2003 – SILC Committee on Emergency Preparedness • 2004 – Collaborate with ADEM • 2005 – SILC participate in Casa Grande statewide exercise • 2006 – Collaborate with Pinal County Emergency Management

  4. AZ SILC History: • 2008 – Attended enableus conference • 2009 – Collaborate with enableus • 2010 – Collaborate with ADHS & MCDEM • 2011 – 1st Arizona Partners in Preparedness Conference

  5. AZ SILC SILC, ADHS, ADEM, McDEM, work as partners to integrate Access & Functional Needs (AFN) into AZ Emergency Preparedness. .

  6. AZ SILC Arizona partners tackle complex AFN issues in candid, constructive and non-confrontational conversations, and as appropriate, invite others to participate in the collaboration.

  7. AZ SILC Collaboration'sSuccessful outcomes : • 2011 & 2013 AZ Partners in Preparedness Conferences, • Creation of a AZ Functional Needs Task Force, • AFN workshops for emergency services personnel at the state, county and local jurisdictions,

  8. AZ SILC Collaboration’sSuccessful outcomes: • Developed a cache of equipment to mitigate accessibility issues, • AZ nationally recognized as being way ahead of the curve, as we • Continually explore innovative strategies that feel right for Arizona.
