  2. Choose a Technology Choose/Process/Resources/Evaluation/Conclusion/List OK let’s get started! First, you need take a careful look at the List of Technologies. It is important that you pick a technology that interests you. Click above to go to the list. . After each slide, click on the STAR at the bottom of the slide to take you to the next PowerPoint slide. Or you can use the words at the bottom to navigate around this assignment.

  3. Process Choose/Process/Resources/Evaluation/Conclusion/List Next, fill out the Webquest worksheet, this will help you later when you put your information into your report. If you don’t have one ask Mr. Peifer for a copy. See the Resource slide for how to get started looking for the information you need. Resources Choose/Process/Resources/Evaluation/Conclusion/List • Below are websites that you should visit to find your information. • HighBeam Encyclopedia • Wikipedia • Browse by inventor or by invention • Inventions arranged alphabetically • 20 Greatest Achievements in Engineering • If you need to go to a search engine (LIVE SEARCH) make certain to use the word “history” in your search…this will take you to websites that contain the sort of information you are looking for and steer you away from websites that are trying to sell you your technology. • You can decide how many PowerPoint slides you need – most students use a different slide for each area they need to cover – which would mean having 8 or 9 slides. • Remember Mr. Peifer does not grade your PowerPoint for how it looks or sounds – he’s grading the CONTENT. So don’t spend time working on adding special effects and sound effects. • If you are doing a Word document you should keep the report to two pages or less, not including a cover page and your bibliography. Please write in complete sentences with NO LESS than 3 paragraphs. • A word about plagiarism … make certain that you don’t copy and paste information into your report… all information presented MUST be in your own words! If you plagiarize you will be given the choice to do this assignment over again OR to take a ZERO for the grade and a “LOGD” entry.

Conclusion Choose/Process/Resources/Evaluation/Conclusion/List • Double check that you have the following information included in your Tech Brief: • All of the items listed on the Evaluation rubric. • Make certain that you spent enough time describing your technology…most students don’t describe their technology adequately. • Bibliography done in proper format – examples: Format “Title of article.” Title of website. Sponsor of website. Date of access <web address>. Example “Birth of the Bicycle.” Bicycle History. Bicycling Association of Japan. 12 Nov. 2007 <http://www.cycle-info.bpaj.or.jp/english/learn/chistory.html>.
