  1. The Leader in Me Chapter 10: Bringing It Home

  2. The foundation of the education of the mind, the heart, the body, and the spirit is… THE HOME!!!!!!

  3. Teachers and administrators are inspiring a movement across the world.BUT……….

  4. …their work and the influence cannot compare to the influence that occurs in a child’s home.

  5. The home is a child’s first… School Classroom Playground

  6. A child’s first teachers are parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Their siblings and cousins are their first playmates.

  7. Parents should realize that every child has some kind of leadership within them. The parental challenge is how to bring it out and how to nurture it. Parents have a powerful influence on their child’s feelings of worth and potential. Therefore, be mindful to recognize the gift(s) your child possess and communicate that recognition in a positive manner.

  8. The Power of Principles Parents try extremely hard to shield their child/children from the cruelties and negative influences that they may encounter in the world. Instilling the internal desire to make the right choices is an approach that gives parents any hope of providing constant protection from what awaits them in life.

  9. Be Proactive: take responsibility for their actions. Begin with the End in Mind: plan for their lives. Put First Things First: focus on what’s most important. Think Win-Win: Stand up for themselves while respecting others. Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood: listen to feelings of others. Synergize: work with others. Sharpen the Saw: renew themselves. Principles are present in every culture and are applicable to any age, gender, race, or economic status. What parent would not want their child to… **The 7 Habits of Effective People do not solve every problem. They are a great starting place. We should never underestimate the power of teaching principles.

  10. The Power of Modeling: How Do Parents Teach Principles? • Step 1: Inspire Trust – model the habits • Step 2: Clarify Purpose – why the habits are important • Step 3. Align Systems – habits need to be rooted in the home • Step 4: Unleash Talent – special “gifts” or talent you want to nurture

  11. When you empower your children with principles, you empower yourself. Inspire your child to discover within themselves “THE LEADER IN ME” .

  12. The greatest leadership role is being a parent!
