  3. WHY IS MRC CONCERN ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE ? • Climate Changeis Happening in Malaysia • Unpredictable wet and dry season • CC will be felt mostly by poor people • Increase of vulnerabilities in community • Frequency and impact of natural disaster is rising. Malaysian Red Crescent Society

HOW DID MALAYSIAN RED CRESCENT GOT STARTED ? • Integration of Climate Change into existing Risk Reduction Strategy • Socialized Climate Change among staff and Board members • Review the impact studies in Climate Change for Malaysia • Partnership networking with other institution (NGO/Ministry etc…) • Identifying project which are most vulnerable to climate change. • Conduct Vulnerable Capacity Assessment • Integrate climate change into MRC disaster management strategic plan Malaysian Red Crescent Society

HOW TO REPLICATE • Integrate Climate Change adaptation into MRC Disaster Management Strategic • plan • Incorporate Vulnerable Capacity Assesment (VCA) module into DM Training • Curriculum. • Integrate Risk Reduction adaptation into existing community based disaster • risk management such as CBFA, CBDP,CBRR, • Climate Change risk awareness to be promoted thru education program for • community, staffs and volunteers as well as Govt and other stakeholders. Promotion and Dissemination of Concept, Strategy and Approach of Disaster • Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation • Advocacy and Socialization Climate Change Adaptation to Govt, NGOs, • Community Leaders • Dissemination thru media , Publication & Awareness • Promoting to School Children thru our school unit (youth) • Integrate CCA into community participatory planning (JKKK etc…) • Integrate CCA into village mapping • Integrate CCA model into existing DRR and mitigation measure Malaysian Red Crescent Society
