Mrs. Lawall’s Background • Teaching for the last 18 years – from pre-school to high school; most experience in 4th & 5th grades • Studied at LaSalle University, Gratz College, Temple U & HFU • Certified Elementary, Early Childhood, Special Education & Middle School Math • Also taught recreational and competitive gymnastics for over 20 years • Technology Coach at Goodnoe; co-chair the Tech Committee; School Play Chorus Director (13 years); Running Club; Reading Olympics Coach • Raised 3 daughters who are now 29, 26 and 23 years old; all educated here in Council Rock School District married 33 years to Ken, self-employed, real estate • Oldest, Tara is married and a NYC Copywriter (U of Maryland; Temple; Miami Ad School) • Second, Tracy is a Physical Therapist in NYC (Temple & U of Miami) • Youngest, Jessica is studying PT at Drexel in her 6th of 6th years

Reading Logs Minimum Book Requirement: at least 25 books for the school year • 1st MP: at least 7 books to meet expectations • 2nd through 4th MP: at least 6 books each MP to meet expectations Guidelines for Success: • Read at least 15 pages per night • Reading Log signed each night by parent • Activity completed for each book finished • Required genres throughout school year

Homework Information • Homework assigned daily and weekly • Students record daily in HW assignment book • Homework posted on class website If a student does not complete homework: • Your child has one day to make it up – please send in a note when you have a special evening planned or any concerns regarding a class assignment. • Student responsible for completing missed HW assignment at recess or at home

PSSAPennsylvania State Standardized Assessment March 17 - 28: Reading & Math (usually first 6 days of session) • Reading: Reading comprehension, critical thinking, inferencing skills, etc. • Math: Problem-solving, number concepts, logical reasoning, etc. March 31 – April 4: Writing (usually first 2 days of session) • Persuasive, Narrative, Informational Please have your child attend school on these dates!

Student H-drives • Access student files from home • Secured storage space provided by the district • Allows students to save their work on any computer in school and access it from home To access H Drive from home: • https://citrix.crsd.org • Click “OK” and “Yes” to proceed • Enter username & password Username: Student ID (lunch code #) Password: created by each child • Double click on “Elementary School Desktop”. • Your computer screen will look like the Goodnoe Elementary School desktop

  21.  Special Events!  After-School Sports Monday’s for 5th grade; pick up is at 4:30pm 50 Years Of Memories – 10/18/13 Meals for the Homeless Service Project – 11/7/13 We need 1 parent volunteer to drive the lunches over Classroom Parties (Halloween, Winter Break, Valentine’s Day, Me Mag Celebration, End-of-Year) 2 -3 parents will help with party; others may send in items March Madness Tournament (March) & Rock Madness (April) Spring Break 4/14 – 4/18 (late this year) Special Activities- “Minute to Win It” Talent Show - June Field Trips: • Old City 10/10/13 • Arbor Day – usually last Friday in April (Earth Day) • Washington’s Crossing (May) Revolutionary Battle Site & colonial living • Churchville Nature Center (May) - Ecosystems • Walking Tour of Newtown (June) – Local colonial history
