  2. Your class has won an opportunity to create a tour guide book of the United States Regions for the President. He will give these books to all foreign leaders when they visit the White House. There are clues on the following pages that will help you to create your tour guide. Remember the President is counting on you!

  8. The People that make up the Northeast Region Majority of the immigrants that came to the Northeast Region came looking for a job. There were also others looking for the opportunity to practice their own religion freely. William Penn was granted a charter from the King to set up Pennsylvania. Here anyone could practice their own religion freely. We still religious tolerance today in Pennsylvania through the Amish People. Most of the immigrants that came into the Northeast Region had to enter first through Ellis Island. Click on the picture to learn more about this Island.

  11. Geography Two major geographical features of the Southeast Region is the Mississippi River and the Coastal Plain. The Mississippi River is a major source of transportation for exporting and importing goods into the United States. The Coastal Plain provides rich fertile soil for growing crops and raising livestock. Click the picture to learn about the Mississippi River and the Coastal Plain in Virginia.

  12. How is the Coastal Plains different from the Northeast Region’s Appalachian Mountains? How is the Mississippi River is useful for you?

  13. Economy of the South Agriculture is a major part of how the people in the South make money. Discover below how sugarcane is processed into sugar. Also, learn about textiles and how cotton and other resources are used to make them.

  14. Explain the process of how sugar is made. What is a textile? Why is it important to us?

  15. People of the South Important events in American History took place in the South. Many of the Civil War battles occurred in the Southeast. Dr. Martin Luther King helped America to understand how African Americans were being treated unfairly during the Civil Rights movement. Click on the pictures for more information.

  18. Geography The prairie of the Mid-west was important to the development of the United States. The flat land allows for some of our favorite foods to be grown there. The Great Lakes are unique. Check out the sites for more incredible information.

  19. List the five Great Lakes. What kinds of crops are grown on the prairie.

  20. Thanks to the farmers in the Midwest, we are able to eat BREAD! Click on the wheat plants to learn how wheat is grown and processed. Due to the large amounts of snow found in the some of the states in the Midwest region, hockey is a sport loved by money. Click on the picture to learn more about how to play hockey.
