  2. Malachi 3:1-4 "See, I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come," says the LORD Almighty. 2 But who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he appears? For he will be like a refiner's fire or a launderer's soap. 3 He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then the LORD will have men who will bring offerings in righteousness, 4 and the offerings of

  4. Introduction • God’s purging removes dross from our lives • Dross is the impurities revealed through the fire Prov 25:4-5 • God’s plans to remove impurities from His people Isa 1:25 • Faith says do what you have to do in my heart

  5. God Comes in Purity & Power • There’s a “Suddenly” to His appearing • Purity & power beyond what we can handle • Presence of God is not something to be trifled with • Prepare our hearts for His presence

  6. God Refines Our Hearts • Process requires heat, trials • He takes away in order to add to us • Whatever clutters our walk with God becomes the target of His refining process • God does not make treaties with our secret sins • He puts us in situations beyond our ability to cope • Submit to refining process • Ask God to reveal sin in your heart & confess

  7. God is Pleased with the Results • Finished when you can see your reflection in silver • If you miss the finished work, will just have to go through it again • If you’re tempted to escape the fire, ask for prayer and support to stay in it

  8. Conclusion • God comes to us in power & purity • God refines our hearts • God is pleased with the results
