  1. Faith In Faith Faith Is the Ability to See the Invisible!

  2. Introduction • Do you have faith in God? • Do you have faith in Jesus? • OR:Do you have faith in faith?

  3. Faith in Faith “Americans have faith in faith. Most believe that there would be less greed, materialism, and crime in the country if more people were religious.” Pew Survey released January 9, 2004.

  4. Faith in Faith “Religion is the best way to strengthen moral values, increase volunteerism, and strengthen the family, respondents said.”

  5. Faith in the Invisible? • Most have faith in what they see or touch • Can your faith see the invisible? • Turn with me to Hebrews 11 – the Hall of Heroes in the faith

  6. Hall of Heroes – Hebrews 11 V. 3 – Creation – By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible V. 7 – Noah – By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, V. 11 – Sarah – Saw her child before conception

  7. Hall of Heroes – Hebrews 11 V. 13 – Patriarchs – These all died in faith, not having received the promises, V. 19 – Abraham – concluding that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead, from which he also received him in a figurative sense. V. 23 – Moses – Parents saw a beautiful child

  8. Hall of Heroes – Hebrews 11 V. 26 – Moses – esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward V. 27 – Moses – By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible

  9. What about us today? • Most of us only believe in what we can touch, taste, feel, smell or see. • We are like Thomas, who wanted to touch the side of Jesus. • John 20:25 The other disciples therefore said to him, "We have seen the Lord." So he said to them, "Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe."

  10. What about you? “Can you honestly say you know for certain, without any doubt, there IS a God who sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins?”

  11. According to the polls According to a recent poll commissioned by the Pew Research Center, more Americans believe in God and in miracles now than a decade ago.

  12. According to the polls The survey reveals that 71 % of the respondents never doubt the existence of God. In a similar poll, which was issued in 1987, the figure was only 60%.

  13. And now what? Popular talk radio host Dr. Laura Schlessinger questions the state of America’s spirituality and feels that our society is in the midst of a morality crisis.

  14. And now what? • So, which is it? Is our society growing closer to God or farther away? • I believe the apparent contradiction lies in the quality of one's faith.

  15. Conclusion • Are you able to see the invisible? • Do you have faith in God? • OR – Do you have faith in faith?
