Syfte för projektet • Sustainable development eTwinning project • Aim • To raise the level of activity to act local and activity to think global for sustainability. • To raise the level of knowledge of sustainability conditions in other EU countries. • To lower the threshold of speaking a foreign language, English, by communicating with students that communicate in English, that is not their native language. • To get friends in other countries, maybe. • To discover a new country with different customs and a different climate. • To raise the level of awareness of need to lower consumption on individual basis.

Ekologiska fotavtryck – Så beräknar man ekologiska fotavtryck • Vår konsumtion kräver utrymme • WWFs fotavtrycksberäkningar uppskattar hur stor biologiskt produktiv yta som krävs för att ta fram allt vi konsumerar och absorbera avfallet som bildas. Här ingår alla ytor någonstans på jorden som krävs för att möta vår efterfrågan på till exempel mat, byggnadsmaterial och förnybar energi och för att ge plats åt våra byggnader och vägar.

  7. Från fossilt till framtid! I vårt ekologiska fotavtryck ingår också vår användning av fossila bränslen. Denna del av fotavtrycket räknas ut genom att man uppskattar hur stor yta med nyplanterad skog som skulle behövas för att "fånga upp" koldioxid-utsläppen från vår användning av olja, kol och gas.

Planning and methods Methods A quality study with a quantitative touch… At first: Find a partner school and make class- and school presentation by photos taken by the students around the school. Programmes, buildings, subjects…. Exchange information. In class: Finding facts, statistics about sustainable development and present short facts about consumption in daily life and their consequences. Brainstorm about local human behaviour to set in focus, in the study. ( Categorize the behaviour in the ones that are easy to achieve and those that are harder to achieve.) Discussion: What resources are involved? Try to answer the question : “what is the impact of body car repairing on the planet” ? What are the different kinds of wastes rejected in the air, in the water, into the rubbish bins ? How toxic are these wastes ? how can we classify the wastes in function of what they look like and their chemical composition ? How to represent our conclusion on a graphic ? Are the activities of the foreign school as polluting, is there a program of sorting out wastes in the partner school ? At individual level: Study behaviour, habits and consumption, own and others for one week. Make ecological footstep tests at www.panda.org or www.wwf.se for the school organisation, “How many planets do you use?” Make a personal plan for consumption for one week. Make evaluation of the personal plan Groupwork: Make ecological footstep tests at www.panda.org or www.wwf.se for the schoolorganisation. “How many planets does the schoolorganisation use?” Study the test results from the own school and the partner school. Make a market survey by a questionnaire for the own school and for the partner schools. Evaluate the market survey. Compare, discuss the results.
