  2. Junior Achievement of Georgia Directly serve over 100,000 students in the academic year 2006-07 with programs and courses aimed at financial literacy, entrepreneurship and global marketplace.

Junior Achievement • JA partners local business and civic organizations with area school systems. • Volunteers from these organizations teach courses in economics, personal finance, and business ethics in grades K-12. • Volunteers also serve as role models and mentors for students, sharing their work and professional experiences, showing them the “real” economics of life.

Junior Achievement Company Program Junior Achievement Company Program is designed for high school students who will gain practical experience and insights into the complexities of business by organizing and operating companies. Volunteer consultants from local businesses assist students with management consulting.

Junior Achievement Company Program Goals • Help students better understand how businesses are organized and operated. • Introduce students to career opportunities and teach basic workforce-readiness skills. • Develop students’ understanding of the economic principles that influence business decisions. • Foster positive relationships between students and members of the business community.

Junior Achievement Company Program Principal Outcomes • Define capital and its role in business formation. • Explain how businesses determine and set prices. • Describe the characteristics of the basic forms of business organization. • Explain why businesses develop business plans and describe the main parts of that plan.

  8. Junior Achievement Company Program Principal Outcomes (con’t.) • Make an effective sales presentation. • Read and interpret basic financial reports. • Describe the ordinary taxes businesses must pay. • Explain the importance of ethical standards in business.

  9. Junior Achievement Company Program In conclusion, the JA Company Program addresses basic economic concepts identified by the National Council on Economic Education as being essential to a high school economic course.
