  4. Dues • Dues are required to be paid by each member in order to be recognized as an official club member and they are only required to be once per school year. • This years dues total to $20 dollars to cover International and District Fees (originally $25) • Dues are going to be collected now! So, please try to get them to us as soon as possible! • Any check or money order should be made payable to Circle K International • Early Bird Dues Deadline is HAS PASSED!!!! • All dues must be collected by December 1st, 2011 in order to be recognized by International as a club in good standing!

  5. Foothills Division Thanksgiving Food Drive • When: November 1st – 20th • This November our division of the capital district of Circle K International will be having a canned food drive for the soup kitchen the Lynchburg Daily Bread! • The items most needed are: turkey gravy, stuffing, green beans, cranberry sauce, and canned yams! • Next meeting we will be creating donation boxes to put around campus! • Also, please try to bring any food you can to our meetings! • You can find out more information about the soup kitchen at: • http://www.lynchburgdailybread.com/

  6. Fall Capital District Large Scale Service Project 2011 • Come join CDCKI for a day of service and fellowship with a Native American Theme! • When and Where: Saturday, November 12th from 11am to 4pm in Baltimore, Maryland • The event is completely FREE and registrants will be put into different “tribes” who will be sent around the Baltimore area. We will be doing a variety of service projects with the Ronald McDonald House of Baltimore and with the Port Discovery Children’s Museum. • If you wish to attend this event, you can register at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/NDLSSP • Questions? Contact Katie DeJuliis at service@cdcki.org • Outline of Events: • 10:30am – 11am meet at B&O Museum Park for registration and tribe placement. Free off street parking is located at 901 West Pratt Street Baltimore, Maryland 21223 which is right is right across the street from the park.

Fall Capital District Large Scale Service Project 2011 • Outline of Events (Continued): • 11am – 11:30am Tribe Meeting • 12pm – 3pm Service Placement • 3pm – 4pm Reconvene at the B&O Park, wrap up and awards • After the event, your free to do as you please: you can explore the inner harbor with your club, or attend VCU’s Thanksgiving Dinner! • IMPORTANT NOTE! If you register for the event and do not show up, there is a $5 no show fee! • Club Notes: • Transportation will be provided but all that is asked is that if you wish to get ask for a ride please be willing to chip in money for gas ($10-$15 is a generous amount for a ride to and from the event). • We will not be staying over night! So, you will not need to bring a change of clothes or anything. All you will need to bring is money for food as we will be stopping to eat along the way! We will most likely be stopping for Breakfast and Dinner!

Southside SPCA • Are you ready for an amazing opportunity to work with animals and make a difference? • Southside SPCA is a donor-supported, no-kill animal welfare organization providing care and adoption services to homeless pets in 12 counties in south-central Virginia. Operating almost entirely with volunteers, the Southside SPCA has saved over 36,000 pets since the organization’s inception in 1975. • Where: 7352 Patrick Henry Highway, Meherrin, VA 23954 • When: Saturday, November 19th from 10am to 12pm • If you would like to attend please email Nicole Kvasnicka at nicole.kvasnicka@live.longwood.edu • We are limited to only about 6 people due to the size of the facility so if you are interest notify Nicole as soon as possible!

  9. March of Dimes – Prematurity Awareness Month • The month of November is Prematurity Awareness month and we will be showing our support with the March of Dimes by collecting money for this wonderful charity! This will take place through the entire month of November! Collection envelops will be provided! • Also, along with fundraising we will be teaming up with Hampden-Sydney’s CKI and we will be wearing purple on November 17thto show our support for Prematurity Awareness Day!

  10. In-House Service Project • In house service project are small service activities we do during our meeting. It is a great way to build club membership relationships and have fun during our meeting. • So, tonight we will be writing letters to veterans who are fought in the war over seas. • We will be sending these letters to veterans at the Virginia State Veterans Home in Hampden, VA! • Do not worry about setting up the letter to be mailed as they will be hand delivered!

  11. Thanksgiving Dinner at D-Hall • We will be participating in D-Hall’s annual Thanksgiving Dinner this year as a club. It will be served family style! • When: November 17th • If you are interested in attending you must have a valid meal plan! • All attendees are required to submit there name and L-number. This information must be submitted before November 11th! • If you do not have a meal plan you can pay using bonus dollars, lancer cash, credit card, or cash. The cost is only $8. • Please submit this information to our club President Christopher Martinez at christopher.martinez@live.longwood.edu or in person.

  12. Member Induction and Pinning • Next meeting (11/17/11), we will be starting membership induction. • All members who have paid dues will be recognized with a certificate of club membership and will be pinned with the Circle K emblem. • So, if you have paid dues please make sure you attend!

  13. Volunteer Opportunity at Longwood Center for the Visual Arts (LCVA) • It is the most wonderful time of the year, and LCVA is getting ready for a fun-filled winter workshop. From glittery snowflakes and a warm fireplace to snow covered trees, the transformation of LCVA has already begun! At the workshop, children and their parents will be making their own personalized greeting cards, poinsettia flowers, glittery snowflakes, handmade gift-wrap, and a host of other wintery delights! • The Longwood Center for the Visual Arts is looking for volunteers to help with their annual Winter Wonderland Free Family Workshop! • They are looking for volunteers for event prep now to December 2! • Also, they are looking for people to work the event on December 3rd from 9am to 1pm! • To register for working the event go to http://www.longwood.edu/lcva/membership/volunteering.html

  14. Kiwanis Family Relations • The Kiwanis Club of Lynchburg is our sponsoring club and it is very important that we build a strong relationship with them! So, we will now be trying to get some of us to go to there meetings at least once a month! • They meet the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month at 12pm at the Presbyterian Home in Lynchburg, VA

  15. Results of Attending Hampden – Sydney’s Circle K Meeting • Thank you to all who attended Hampden-Sydney’s Circle K meeting. • Hampden-Sydney’s Circle K President, Kevin Anderson, appreciated all who attended the meeting and though it was a great way to build club relations. • We have been welcomed back anytime and if you are ever interested in attending one of their meetings please contact any of Longwood Circle K’s officers. • They meeting every Thursday at 5:30pm but begin dinner at 5pm.

  16. Club T-Shirt Designs • It is time to show our club spirit with the designing and selection of the Longwood University 2011-2012 Circle K club! • PLEASE start to think of some cool designs that we can use for our t-shirt and our club will vote on them! The vote will take place on November 17thso submit your designs ASAP!!! • REMEMBER to be as creative as possible since we will submit a shirt for the best designed shirt at DCON (District Convention) in the Spring! • The person with the selected design that is going to be used this year will win a $15 Subway! • Make sure with any design that you send in include your name, phone number, and email • Here are some of the designs that have been created:

BACK Live to Serve The shirt will be black to match the PACMAN arcade theme and it will have our three tenets along with are slogan “live to serve, love to serve.” It has also been request the we flip PACMAN so we will look into that if the shirt is selected!
