  21. Transfer Students Priority • Lee Furbeck, Leader • Transfer students represent a desirable population. They generally possess the intelligence, drive, perseverance, and focus to be successful students • Attempts to develop relationships with community colleges with the exception Johnson County Community College and Kansas city Community College have been sporadic and uncoordinated • With the exception of Transfer Student Orientation, there are no population-specific services, organizations, events, or support services, once these students reach campus. • We can begin to address these issues with more regularly scheduled visits to in-state Community Colleges, more clearly defined and honored articulation agreements with these institutions, and the hiring of a Transfer Programs Coordinator to manage these and other activities.

  22. Successful Students Priority • Tammara Durham, Leader • Respondents attributed their academic success to hard work • They report the most commonly used campus resource was the library • Most respondents reported that interaction with faculty tended to occur when help with an assignment was needed. • Most respondents used the Student Recreation Fitness Center, specifically intramural sports activities, as their preferred way to “make friends”.
