Email List Services Most lists set up as “Subscriber Only” • Only people who subscribe to the mailing list can post mail to the list. • check of email address • Subscriber request are approved by “Moderator” • None subscriber post must be approved by “Moderator” and two are “Open” lists • Anyone can send mail to list. • To use xyz@wgiss.ceos.org WITT 23

  5. “Open” Liststo use xyz@wgiss.ceos.org • SPAM filter has greatly reduced the volume of SPAM being sent to list moderators and list managers. • We monitor for false positives, but we may miss your message and your message will not be posted. Let us know if this happens. • If there are other lists that need to be set up let us know. WITT 23

Request for List Members To ensure accuracy in the email lists • Review the members of the lists at wgiss.ceos.org/witt/members.pdf Or the lists with members or at wgiss.ceos.org/witt/lists.pdf • Mark up paper list that is being passed around. If you have changes give to Lyn or send email to webmaster@wgiss.ceos.org WITT 23

  9. Request When replying to a email from a WGISS list , review the TO, CC email address and remove the email address that contain “bounces”, such as, (exec-bounces@wgiss.ceos.org) WITT 23

Short tutorial for Moderators • The list moderator will get notified of new subscribers and must approve new subscription. • Also, must approve posting by non-members Moderators will receive email something like. Your authorization is required for a mailing list subscription request approval: For: dhartzell@arc.nasa.gov List: webmaster@wgiss.ceos.org At your convenience, visit: http://wgiss.ceos.org/mailman/admindb/webmaster to process the request.
