  2. n Vines OHC provides an empowering and positive environment which enables individuals to aspire, learn and achieve within a self determined and meaningful curriculum.

The Student Group • Learners with severe/profound and multiple learning difficulties and/or disabilities • Learners with Autistic Spectrum Disorder • Learners with Challenging Behaviour • Learners who have additional sensory impairments (visual/hearing) • Learners with additional mental health needs (dual diagnosis)

  4. A Brief History • Queen Mary’s Hospital for Children – population of young people reaching adulthood with learning disabilities • Creation of Orchard Hill • FE Centre started in 1983 • Received College status in early 1990s • Full-time places for school leavers approved and funded by FEFC (now LSC) • Relocated to Old Town Hall Wallington in 2004

Core Principals • Provides a non-residential educational service, which offers equality of opportunity and respect to all students and staff. • Provides real life learning opportunities within a framework which is flexible, safe and responsive to individual needs. • Aims at all times to build quality relationships and interactions which respect anindividual’s potential to learn. • Enables and empowers learners to identify and work towards their personal aspirations.

  6. Curriculum Provision Full time: • Three-Year Building Skills for Independence Course • Post-16 Course Part time: • Skills for Access • Vocational Progression

Curriculum Framework • Individual learning programmes • Created with each individual learner using person centred approaches, including: • personal tutorials, • student planning meetings • flexible curriculum framework • Learning process mapped out in the learner’s individual learning plan (ILP), using long term aims and termly objectives to chart learners’ progress. • The College Curriculum Framework complements the national Pre-Entry Curriculum Framework which covers communication, literacy and numeracy.
