  2. What? • The Battle of Vimy Ridge was part of the British Empire’s effort to help push the Germans out of France

  3. Who? • The Battle of Vimy Ridge was between the British Empire(United Kingdom and Canada) and the German Empire • The leader of the British Empire was Sir Julian Byng, which had 5 divisions; corresponding to 170,000 men • In the end of the Battle 3,598 were dead and 7,004 were wounded on the British side • The leader of the German Empire was Ludwig von Falkenhausen which had 3 divisions; corresponding to 30,000–45,000 men • In the end of the Battle 4,000 were captured on the German side

  4. Why? Vimy Ridge occurred because it was a very strong tactical point for the Germans who had control over it for so long. No one could penetrate the German lines as they were so well defended until finally the Canadians pushed through, only to have the land taken back not long after.

  5. When? • The Battle of Vimy Ride occurred at dawn on Easter Monday, April 9th 1917, and ended on April 12th 1917

  6. Where? • The Battle of Vimy Ridge was located in Northern France

  7. Arthur Currie • Arthur Currie was the general for Canada (promoted by the British High Command) • Arthur was the most experienced in battles. • He made his own version of the ridge and gave each troop objectives. • Currie came up with the plan and to use artillery. • Currie led Canada with his tactics and made troops more prepared by practicing in war training.
