  1. Cell Cycle NBO 3

  2. Cell Cycle Def: The life cycle of a cell differs greatly on type and function of a cell. • Neurons – don’t but can under special circumstances • Liver cells – 200 days • Stomach cells – 2-3 days • Skin cells – 20 days

  3. Interphase Action Plan: Cell is alive; divided into three subphrases.

  4. G1 phase Action Plan: Part of Interphase; cell is living its cell life...MOST of the time...protein synthesis

  5. S Phase Action Plan: DNA is being replicated creating two copies...

  6. G2 phase Action Plan: Cell preparing for mitosis;

  7. Mitosis Action Plan: When the nucleus and its chromosomes are actually dividing. Divided into 5 phases...more later!

  8. Chromatin Def: During G1 and S phase DNA is uncoiled and is called chromatin.

  9. (sister) Chromatids & Homologous Pairs

  10. Telomeres Def: Caps on the end of chromosome...keeps it together...

  11. Apoptosis Def: Programmed Cell Death; keeps cell population under control

  12. DNA Replication Def: Your entire genome is copied so during G2 phase there is two “sets” of DNA...
