  1. Looking For A Quick Hangover Cure? Here’s what to try and NOT try! The aftereffects of a wild night of holiday debauchery are never pleasant! Besides the self-pity and regret, there’s also headache, nausea, and clumsiness to tackle! While there’s little help for the emotional guilt, hangover remedies are a dime a dozen. A majority of them are just old wives remedies –they seldom ever work. We list out some hangover cures that aren’t worth trying: Hair of the Day, The Day-after Bloody Mary, etc. This is one myth that refuses to die even after countless scientific evidence that prove the contrary. Taking a drink the morning after may probably offer temporary relief by numbing the symptoms. It probably works if you are looking for a quick fix and need help to get you through the morning. But they’ll eventually return and make you feel more miserable than ever. Some people think drinking lightly throughout the day could make them feel better and refreshed the next day. Again, this isn’t true, because at some point your body will have to metabolize the alcohol. In the long run, this habit could do more harm than good, because your body is probably getting used to the alcohol and could lead to an addiction. Instead: Painkillers provide some relief from the headache, but make sure you pick the right ones and the right dosage. Some painkillers, especially those with acetaminophens can worsen the symptoms. Greasy breakfast, BLT, Cheeseburger, etc… It’s not what you eat after you drink, but what you eat before drinking that matters. The BLT probably makes you feel better because it helps manage the feeling of emptiness and alleviates fatigue. Of course, the ‘morning after’ breakfast is important, but look for healthy alternatives like eggs, chicken noodle soup, oats, toast with honey, etc. Instead: Eat well before you start drinking. Since the stomach is busy digesting food, alcohol is absorbed slowly into the system. This way, you are less likely to end up with a splitting headache the day after. Drinking milk before bar hopping is also known to help. If you are looking for guaranteed solutions, try IV vitamins drips. In fact, Myers’ Cocktail is probably one of the best hangover cures. This is a cocktail of essential B and C vitamins and nutrients that are administered intravenously so as to energize the body and manage some of the symptoms like headache, dehydration, etc. Author Bio: 1
