  4. Acceptable life • Always have a job • Economy is strong • Always have money and food

  5. Jobs in this region include • Lumberman • Merchants • Farmers • Miners

  6. Raw materials and minerals include • Coal • Iron • Copper

  7. Why we moved • We get religious freedom • Quakers can practice religion freely and not be imprisoned for their beliefs and doings

  8. Religious beliefs • Quakers welcome- there’s no fighting. • Bountiful freedom from the government. • This colony was started all because they wished to be granted religious freedom so that they would not be arrested for there belief

  9. Geography Land features include … • The Delaware river valley (the geography provided lots of resources) • Rich soil for farming (and growing crops) • Forest (Provides timber)

  10. Government • Originally the king appointed a governor - A general assembly met to pass or reject laws • A low that only men who owned property could vote was passed • In 1696 the colony became more democratic when the elected members of the assembly gained the power to write laws
