Important Dates • Thurs & Fri., Nov. 28th & 29th- No School- Thanksgiving break • Wednesday, Dec. 11th- Field trip to the Children’s Museum….cost is $3.50 and permission is required • Friday, December 20th- End of 2nd quarter • Monday, December 23rd- Wednesday, January 8th- No School- Christmas Break! • Thursday, January 9th- School resumes Mrs. Robertson’s Updates 11-21-13 Our field trip to The Children’s Museum will on Wednesday, Dec. 11th. Please make sure you have turned in your permission slip and $3.50 by Wednesday morning. We will leave promptly at 9:15 AM and return by 11:30. Students with an office referral or bus suspension between 11-18-13 and 12-11-13 will not be able to attend. What’s happening in Reading? Next week, due to such a short week with Thanksgiving we will not move on to the next story. There will be no spelling list since it’s a 3 day week. We will be reading several fall and Thanksgiving books in class during our reading time. Mid-term reports Attached you will find your child’s mid-term report for 2nd quarter. Please sign and return it by Monday, November 25th. Students that have it signed and back on time will get to put their number on the respect board. Any questions…don’t hesitate to give me a call (620-5103). I will send them home again for you to keep once I see you have signed it. Math Madness This week we learned how to make 10 to add and make 10 to add 8 and 9. We also starting working on adding 3 numbers. We have been working on skip counting by 2, 5, and 10 as well as counting and writing to 120. I am seeing improvements on math facts with responders, so keep up the practice! Writing Corner:This week students focused on the trait word choice the specific skill was picking “interesting words.” Primary students focused on the book Mamma Zooms where students learned about how to describe, and write down words associated with the noises of transportation into their writing . – Mrs. Keller Student Council Thanks to all who participated in the fun dress up days this week for student council to support the Oasis Day Center. Verbs, Verbs, Verbs In Language Arts, we began learning about verbs this week. We will continue working on action words next week focusing specifically on present tense verbs. Nashari, Rylee, and SeOnna were the MLK essay winners who will advance. Star of the Week There is no star of the week for Nov. 25- Nov. 28 due to such a short week. Keep practicing math facts and sight words at home daily!!! Practice makes perfect!
