  1. Project: IEEE P802.15 Working Group for Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPANs) Submission Title: [Enhancement of Reliability with Channel Hopping] Date Submitted: [7 May, 2008] Source: [Yaoxian Fu, Jie Shen, Liang Li, Gu Ning] Company [Shanghai Institute of Micro-system and Information Technology, Vinno Technologies Inc] Address [NO.865 Changning Road, Shanghai, 200050, China] Voice:[+86 21 6251 1070], FAX: [+86 21 6213 2314], E-Mail:[sqinghe@mail.sim.ac.cn] Re: [IEEE 802.15.4e group] Abstract: [This document suggests automatic channel selection solution to enhance the system capacity and reliability] Purpose: [This document is a response to Item a) better support the industrial markets in IEEE P802.15.SG4e Call for Application on 14 November, 2007] Notice: This document has been prepared to assist the IEEE P802.15. 2. Motivation • Channel Hopping • to enhance communication capacity in WPAN • to improve reliability and robustness SIMIT

  3. Suggestion:Automatic channel Selection by Nodes • Each node owns a randomly chosen channel, which related with its own ID and superframe cycles

  4. Communicate in one WPAN as hopping Channel • When a node need to communicate with another node, it turns its sending frequency to the corresponding frequency of the receiver • When it has no signal to send, it listens in its own frequency

  5. Benefits:Random Hopping Improve Reliability • Random Hopping supports to deliver signals in partly jamming situation

  6. Benefits:Increase Capacity • If only one channel in one WPAN, the operation of node may be limited • Multi-channel communication in one WPAN would enlarge the transmission convergence.

  7. Thank you!
