  4. Choices If you intend to study 4 AS Level Subjects, then you should choose four of the following subjects in order of preference. Also choose one subject as a reserve( R ) If you intend to study 3 AS Level Subjects, then you should choose three of the following in order of preference. Also choose one subject as a reserve ( R )

  6. Entry Requirements • A minimum of three B grades and three C grades in GCSE • Passes at grade B or above in those subjects to be taken for AS Level (or in a related subject where a GCSE is not a prerequisite for AS study) • A pass at grade C or above in GCSE English. (This is a University entrance requirement.)

  7. Entry Requirements • A pass at grade C or above in GCSE Mathematics for any one of the following AS Levels: Applied Business, Applied ICT, Applied Performing Arts, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Design & Technology, Geography, Mathematics, Physics or Psychology • A pass at grade D or above in GCSE Mathematics for any one of the following AS Levels: Art & Design, English Literature, French, History, Home Economics, Moving Image Arts, Music, Physical Education, Religious Studies or Spanish.

  8. Entry Requirements • In certain circumstances, for only one of the subjects chosen for AS level, a grade C at GCSE in that subject may be acceptable following a recommendation by the HOD • Within a pupil’s choice of AS level subjects a maximum of two ‘new’ subjects may be selected

Entry Requirements In addition to obtaining the necessary GCSE grades for entry to the Sixth Form the school regards it as reasonable to expect that any pupil entering Sixth Form in the Rainey will have had a record of • regular attendance • good time keeping and attendance at class • co-operative behaviour

  13. CHOOSING SUBJECTS • Do not pick subjects on basis of favourite teacher • Do not pick subjects on basis of friendship group • Play to your strengths & interests • 5 A/A* grades to do 4 AS subjects • Better to get 3 good grades than 4 average grades
