  3. 2-Sec-Butyl-4,5-dihydrothiazole SBT is a Pheromone that is found within rodents such as mice and rats. SBT causes aggression within males and synchronizes the estrus cycle in females. The pheromone is most commonly released through urine.

  4. 2-Sec-Butyl-4,5-dihydrothiazole SBT works by binding to a Major Urinary Protein (MUP) creating a hydrogen bond with the water molecule found within the active site of MUP. When SBT and MUP are bound together (protein-ligand complex), they can travel in the aqueaous evironment safely. The complex is then moved out of the body through urine. The MUP will help stop the decomposition of SBT as well as allowing it to be released slowly into the environment, causing the behavioral responses from other rodents that encounter the Pheromone.

  5. 2-Sec-Butyl-4,5-dihydrothiazole When SBT binds to MUP, it stabilizes by creating more hydrogen bonds to another water molecule and Phe56. The second water molecule then binds to several other molecules. SBT also has the ability to create van der waals forces with several molecules.
