  1. Organic Chemistry Molecule Review Look at each molecule from the kits, read any details that will guide you. Black is always carbon, yellow is always hydrogen, the other colors vary.

  2. Green is chlorine

  3. Chloroethane No numbering is needed, that chlorine would be always on the “first” carbon atom.

  4. RED is oxygen

  5. Ethyl propyl ether That oxygen atom is between 2 R groups.

  6. Blue is oxygen

  7. Ethanol alcohol The oxygen has an H attached, an -OH

  8. Dark blue (top) is oxygen, the light blue lower left is nitrogen (with 2 attached hydrogen atoms)

  9. That’s a 4 carbon amide, or Butanamine(no number needed, it’s always on one end in our class.

  10. 4 green bromine atoms attached to a central carbon atom

  11. Tetrabromo methane

  12. That red atom will be oxygen

  13. 13

  14. It’s an –OH or alcohol group on the third of five carbons, so 3-pentanol

  15. Orange is fluorine now

  16. 1,2 difluoro ethane

  17. Red is oxygen

  18. 3 carbons with an alcohol on the end: 1-propanol

  19. Nothing is as simple as this, this is the first molecule of organic chemistry

  20. methane

  21. Blue is Oxygen

  22. Methyl methyl ether But we say Dimethyl ether

  23. Green for chlorine

  24. dichloromethane

  25. 7 single bonded carbons in a row

  26. Heptane an alkane CnH2n+2

  27. Try organic molecule quiz 2
