  2. What does “Rescue” mean • To Deliver from confinement, danger or Evil. Act of Rescuing; deliverance

  3. What do we do? • Provide medical first response and Technical Rescue Services to a set coverage district. • This area includes the Cities of Hickory, Longview and Town of Brookford. • We also cover the communities of Mt.View, St. Stephens, Vale, Propst Crossroads and some western areas of Newton. • Our response area encompasses over 1/3 of Catawba Counties total land mass.

  4. What we provide! • Hickory Rescue Provides the following services to the citizens of Catawba County: • Medical First Response • Vehicle and Machinery Rescue • Swiftwater, Flood and Dive Rescue • Confined Space and High Angle Rescue • Structural Collapse and Trench Rescue

  6. How We do our Job! • Full Time paid staff members • Works 8 am-5 pm Monday Thru Friday • 30 Volunteers • On call 24/7 and provide 4 hours duty time a month • 8 Part time staff • One covers main base each night from 8 pm- 6 am • Other shifts include 8am – 6pm daily

  10. Other Rescue Units • Two Boats for Lake Hickory • Two Ambulance units • Three Quick Response unit (QRV) • One “officer on call” QRV • One 30 Foot trailer with Trench Rescue Gear

  11. Why we do what we do! • Satisfaction of Self in helping our neighbors • Pride and distinction in our Community • Pride in our Country and our Freedom • Desire to make the worst moment of someone's life a little easier to bear

Funding • Funding through county is shared by 6 other Squads. • Therefore large purchases thru donations are important • Fund drive effort is through a once a year picture drive which I am sure you have received in the mail. • Our current needs are to pay on our recently purchased rescue truck, 93 Rescue 1.
