  1. What The overall theme of this task was advertising and researching. When we could choose the theme I chose the theme of the Xbox 360. I chose this because I already have experience with the console so it would be easier for me if I went and chose that. For the advertising task we had to, choose a product, research it and draw an advert for a bus. For the researching part it was quite easy for me because I already knew a lot about the Xbox so I didn’t need to do much research. I chose to design the bus with an Xbox theme because I have already seen Xbox designed buses in the past so I had an idea of what it would/should look like. The influences I used existing Xbox 360 adverts, I looked at bus advertising in general and overall advertising.

  2. What I started off designing the bus by choose a blue to green gradient. However halfway through I changed the bus base colours to plain white. I did this because I looked at the Xbox 360 website and realized that their main colours are white, gold, green and grey.

  3. How I went about designing my bus by researching about Xbox 360 and the designs of the company, I used Google and the official Microsoft website to find images, designs and additional resources. With designing the bus you have to be very careful about the colours and ways that you use them. I used the Xbox 360 logo for the wheels on both sides and used the different generation of consoles on each side as well. I put the green Xbox swirl on the back of the bus and also put the “jump in” logo on top. I used a lot of Xbox.com and searched a lot of bus ads for Xbox to get a picture of how I should design the bus. I tried to bring all of the pictures into one and bring in different aspects from different designs and put them all on to one ad.

  4. Project review Overall I think that the unit/project was fun and enjoyable. I think that I was doing well at the start of the task but then because my laptop broke it was impossible to do work at home, so the only way I could do my work was at college. I was also away from college for a few days because I was ill so it left behind on the work and having to do a lot in a short space of time. I think that the amount of work that we have had is just about right. I find that my time management is quite difficult because I have football training 3-4 times a week so after college I’m having to go straight to sessions so there is not a lot of time to do work, but I find it easier if i try and do all the work I can in college. Another challenge is free hand drawing I find it a lot easier to create images on the computer than I do drawing.

  5. Future work Because I struggle with drawing, in the future I think it would help if I photocopied images that were relevant to the subject, then cut them all out and stuck them to an A4 piece of paper as I think that would help me create good quality work whilst overcoming my lack or artistic talent. If I had more time with the project I think I would have been able to produce a more creative piece. However I think that I did very well and did not over clutter the bus but did not under clutter it too. The main colour schemes for Xbox 360 is green and white, which are bland and boring. In my opinion I think I was restricted to them, I would of liked to change them and have selected brighter and bolder colours which would of stood out more, but would of lost the brand identity.
