  31. ZIS Community Survey 2012-2013

  32. What was the survey for? “There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns …there are things that we know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns.“ There are things we don't know we don't know. Source: http://benjaminday.files.wordpress.com/2011/04/donald-rumsfeld.jpg

  33. Thank you! 1. Approx. two-thirds of our families responded 2. One-fifth responded to the Mandarin survey 3. Overall the survey worked well 5. Positive and constructive feedback 6. Annual event, but not the same each year 7. What we’ve found out…

  34. The things that are important when choosing an international school There were 4 choices – Very important, Quite important, Somewhat important and Not important When combining Very important and Quite Important for any one choice: • All choices were over 50% • English as language of instruction – 93% • Culturally diverse – 80% • IB Programmes – 76%* • IGCSE was well over 50%

  35. At the Parent Information evening I would like to find out more about… Long-term plans – 91% Facility/Capital development plans – 89% Staffing and structure for both PYP & MYP – over three-quarters Curriculum and approach to education for both programmes – around 70% IGCSE and DP – around 50%

  36. EYP learning environment and curriculum Most parents are happy with the: • learning environment (77% - Strongly agree or Agree), • and curriculum (67% - Strongly agree or Agree) However there is cause for us to look further into this.

  37. The PYP Over 80% feel they know enough about the PYP Curriculum. Well over 80% are at least satisfied with the English literacy program. Just over 50% were satisfied with the Numeracy program.

  38. The MYP Almost 80% feel they know enough about the MYP. Three-quarters are at least satisfied with the amount of communication they receive about their son or daughters subjects and progress. • Few parents ‘strongly agreed’ with the statements about communication, so we need to look further into this Homework – most agreed it was about right, but a third thought it was less than expected.

  39. After-school activities program Over 70% are satisfied with the program offered this year. • Comments reflected a desire for more variety, but also an understandingthat despite limitations the program is growing Around three-quarters said ‘yes’ to a year-long, once-per-week program. Around three-quarters said ‘yes’ to paying more for this if required.

  40. Improvements you would like to see Facilities (gym, multi-purpose, performance) (9) Language diversity in the curriculum (7) Concerns about staffing – qualifications, commitment A few things tied here: • Inter-school/Competitive sports • Expanded music • Library, shade, drama (Secondary)
