Registration Procedure: Home school or non-accredited schools • Follow registration procedures • On or before the 1st day of attendance, students will take CBEs for all 8th Grade level courses to determine mastery: • Language Arts – must be passed • Social Studies • Math– must be passed • Science Student must have an overall score of 70 on 4 tests.

  12. Course Description Guide The High School Course Description Guide includes all courses offered at all high schools in the district. Some courses listed are not offered at Hebron. Scheduling of elective courses will depend on sufficient numbers and staffing.

  14. Course Selection Sheet Check the course you wish to take on the Course Selection Sheet. If a class is not listed on your Course Selection sheet, it is not offered as a choice for your grade level. TALK WITH YOUR CURRENT TEACHERS AND PARENTS CONCERNING COURSES YOU SHOULD TAKE!

Blocks of Courses = ‘8’ YOU MUSTCHECK 8 Credits OF COURSES One 18-weeks = 1 credit One 9-weeks = 1/2 credit Two 9-weeks = 1 credit • Your choices do not need to be placed in a certain order, the computer will place them in a schedule for you. • After you make 8 selections, make sure you select 4 alternate elective classes in the “alternative courses box” on the Course Selection Sheet. If no alternate classes are chosen, the counselors will choose for you.

Pre - AP and AP Classes • Pre- AP and AP classes have open enrollment. • The curriculum is usually taught with instructional strategies that are two grade levels above the grade level in which the course is offered. • More student motivation and involvement is necessary for success in Pre-AP and AP classes. • Pre-AP course have a GPA multiplier of a 1.2 and AP courses 1.3 as compared to a multiplier of 1.1 for a regular course. • Some AP classes are 27 or 36 weeks long. .

  19. Hebron 9th Grade Center PAP and AP Student Challenge Pre-AP & AP Form HHS9 and LISD allow all students to enroll in Pre-Advanced Placement (PAP) and/or Advanced Placement (AP) classes. Students accepting the challenges and rigor of PAP and/or AP classes are also adhering to responsibilities of a PAP and AP student. Please read, discuss (if necessary), and then sign below acknowledging the challenges and responsibilities of a PAP and AP student. Challenges and responsibilities: • Implement a strong work ethic • Have a willingness to read and comprehend more amounts of written material than regular textbook • Maintain regular attendance • Avoid absences on quiz and test days • Complete all reading and writing assignments on time • Be an active classroom participant • Research, compile, construct, and write independent projects • Spend the required and appropriate amount of time outside of class to complete assignments and readings • Understand the fast paced nature of a PAP and/or AP class • Demonstrate a positive attitude towards the class and its design • Understand there is no place in a PAP and/or AP course for discipline problems • Commitment to the pursuit of academic excellence Please Note: Students who sign up to take PAP and/or AP courses will not be able to request a schedule change until they have been in the class for 3-weeks and if the student is failing and student’s academic history indicates a need for the change. This change is subject to seat availability in the regular course. Adherence to the above challenges and responsibilities is expected. If a student cannot or will not follow the above during the school year, the teacher will initiate parent contact, guidance counselor contact, and other measures to focus the student on his/her commitment to the PAP or AP course and their academic success.
