  1. IWG Update August 2013 ISAS Danielle Johnson

  2. WIAB Test Plan V2.0 • Current draft posted on the ISAS August meeting for review • Very preliminary draft went to the OC as a “We are working on one and this is what we have so far” • Basic concept • Not all requirements can be tested • Test will be conducted in parallel with production • Should last ~2-4 hours • New transaction, and adjustments will be coordinated between Source, Sink and TP • Requires a minimum: Two Adjacent BA’s where one is the Source and one is the Sink BA, TP between the two BA’s, one PSE, and the RC (for WECC Net posting)

  3. WIAB Test Plan V2.0 cont… • Outstanding issues • Is an Attestation required? • If yes, to whom (ISAS, OC, WECC, ????) • Are there any requirements for entities to retain hard copies? • For 2013, the lucky entities are Idaho Power, BPA Transmission Service and BPA Power Services. • The 2014 test will be conducted sometime late September or early October • Results shared in the January 2014 ISAS meeting

  4. Interchange Summary Class The IWG reviewed the following: • Course materials, • Attendance since 2009 • Material being include in other WECC class • Does WECC members still want the class • Scope

  5. Interchange class cont… • Material • Out date • INT Standards are in the process of being modified • Capturing changes in the industry • Concern on keeping material up to date once developed • Attendance • Average class size - ~20 • Second class of 2012 was cancelled • 2013 class was not offered • It has been stated that the lack of attendance maybe due to the material being out of date

  6. Interchange class cont… • Can the material be included in another class? • WECC touches on Coordinated Interchange in the WECC schedulers class. • Still be reviewed • Does WECC members still want the class? • Yes – There appears to be interest in keeping • Some members have stated they would like to continue with a Interchange class • The OC would like ISAS to continue offering the class

  7. Interchange class cont… How can we improve so people attend? Changes being reviewed: • Only offer once a year instead of twice • WECC has requested a SME to assist in teaching the class • Teach only what is needed • Coordinated Interchange” information • INT Standards • IWG is working on a outline of possible topics • Ability to offer NERC CEH

  8. Interchange class cont… Next steps: • Finish outline of topics • May be ready for January 2014 ISAS review • Find knowledgeable people to help develop training material! • This is key in making the class successful! • Work with WECC Training Coordinator on a path forward
