He joined Guru Kamalakar, a famous Brij poet, and worked with him to teach languages like Hindi, Sanskrit and Gujrati, as well as the great works of Indian Literature free of cost. After Independence in 1959 Sahitya Sadawart Samiti became a society fully devoted to the cause of education. Acharya Shree, as Shri Purushottam was popularly called, was soon joined in his efforts by his son, Shri Suresh Sharma, himself a devoted socialist and a champion of the minorities, the poor and the have-nots of the society. Within one-year the school developed into a middle school and in 1999 the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) accorded accreditation for secondary and senior secondary classes.
