What is it? • Building engineers acquire knowledge in the planning, design, construction, operation, renovation and maintenance of buildings, together with an understanding of impacts on the surrounding environment. Building engineers explore all phases in the life cycle of a building. They identify problems and find appropriate solutions to improve the quality of living within the built environment.

Specific Jobs • Commercial Building Engineer- Instruction areas include refrigeration and building systems, boiler operations, and hazardous waste management.  Students learn to regulate and maintain heating, cooling, and ventilation systems for commercial buildings. • Office Building Engineer - is a field of engineering dealing with the analysis and design of structures that support or resist loads. Structural engineering is usually considered a specialty within civil engineering, but it can also be studied in its own right.
