  9. First Experiencing QR Codes Reading • eMINTS Conference 2013 – Columbia, MO • Mapping Media to the CC • Dr. Wesley Fryer, Ph.D. • Dr. Fryer introduced several ways to incorporate media in reading and writing. The one I have taken back to my classroom is QR Showcase

  13. Websites • Audioboo.fm is a great resource for students to record their summary, edit, and save. This website is completely free! There are many examples found on this website, that can give additional ideas of how to use this website. • https://audioboo.fm/

  14. Websites • QR Code Generator is a free resource that will allow you to create a QR code that can be read on any phone or tablet that has a QR reader downloaded. This resource will create a code for a web address, YouTube video, Twitter, Instagram, Dropbox, an option for Plain text, and many more options. • http://www.qrstuff.com/

  15. Tablet Usage • Motorola Xoom Android tablet(my personal device) • Additional Resource: • High resolution camera • Easily transfers pictures of book cover to desktop.

Recording • https://audioboo.fm/ • Students will open up audioboo.fm on the teacher’s desktop and put headphones on. • Click on “Record/Upload” • Click on “Got your mic ready?” (new recording) • You will want to make sure you have flash enabled. • Click on “start recording”. Once you are done you will click on “pause recording”. • At this point, students will preview their recording. If they like it they will click on “Happy? Add a title”. If they are not happy, they will restart recording.

Creating a QR Code • http://www.qrstuff.com/ • Step 1: Open up your “audioboo” recording and copy the web address. • Step 2: Paste your web address into www.qrstuff.com • Step 3: Download QR Code • At this point, I save the QR Code as an image to import it into my Word document for the final presentation.

Trial and Error • Printing Separately • Gluing onto construction paper with distort the QR code, and not allow it to be read. • Recording • Sometimes when listening to your unsaved/untitled recording it will become distorted. • Option 1: Go ahead and title it, then listen to it. Sometimes it will save fine, but not initially replay correctly. • Option 2: Record it again, after closing the browser and reopening the browser.

  25. Step by Step: Audioboo 1. Write and edit book review/summary 4. Click on “Got your mic ready?” 7. Preview Record, if you are happy click on “Happy, add a title”. 2. Go to http://audioboo.fm 5. Click on “Start Recording” 8. If you are not happy, you may restart the recording. 3. Click on record/upload 6. Click on “Pause Recording” once you are finished. 9. Give it a title, and click on “Publish”.
