PA GIS Coordinator Report • Great Days to be in Pennsylvania! • Exciting Times Ahead! • Commonwealth GIS Strategic Plan being developed with input from everyone • Your input and feedback desired • Statewide GIS orthophotography and GIS data layers MUST be created and shared with all parties • Need to Collaborate with local governments to share data with the state – Local Data is the Best Data • Need data standards to promote data sharing

PA GIS Coordinator Report • Sustainable Funding for GIS/GT Is an Issue in PA • State GIS Coordinator needs it • State agencies need it • Counties and Municipalities Need it • Looking for partnerships to cost share • Looking for grant opportunities • Identifying local fund uses for GIS/GT – e.g. state standards for GIS/GT purchases using SHSP/ODP and Wireless 911 funds

PA GIS Coordinator Report • GT Guiding Principles • Create data once, use it a bunch • Reduce overlap and duplication of efforts • Support the Governor’s initiatives • Provide Homeland Security support • Create and communicate standards initiatives • Maintain current knowledge of agency operations and business • Develop an enterprise strategic plan • Support agencies and advance their capabilities • Identify, prioritize, and build enterprise assets and resources (e.g. imagery, geocoding solution) • Promote state collaboration with local governments for best data • Seek sustainable funding sources and achieve sustainability of operations

PA GIS Coordinator Report • What is Coming… • USDA NAIP 1m CIR Imagery - Statewide -THIS YEAR! • PAMAP • $1.5M matching funds from DCNR for Spring 2005 Flights • SHSP Funds Applied for – should know how much within 30 days • Hoping to do full 1/3 of the state next year • Work with counties on data sharing issues • State procures imagery for counties, sets data standards, allows county/municipality cost sharing for higher accuracy imagery

PA GIS Coordinator Report • What is Coming… • PGDSS – PA Geospatial Data Sharing Standards Version 1.0 • PA NHD (National Hydrography Database) Completion – 1:24K streams and water bodies statewide, with USGS/EPA and DEP attributes (2005) • Other statewide datasets completion • House Resolution and Legislation…
