  1. Mid Course Report Ajeng Arum Sari Indonesia

  2. My Expectation As we know, to manage environmental chemicals we need three components which related to other Risk Assessment (Research) Risk Management (Regulatory Authorities) Risk Communication (Regulatory Authorities and the Media) Especially in POP’s, pesticide and heavy metal residues

  3. My Expectation I learned monitoring techniques and evaluate pesticides pollution in environment especially in water  useful for me to conduct research about environmental monitoring on pesticides in Indonesia

  4. My Achievement so far • Understanding about risk assessment, risk management and risk communication in agrochemicals • Concept of Chemicals Controls Hazard Exposure Risk Assessment

  5. Concept of Chemicals Controls • Hazard is intrinsic property of the chemicals  ex : explosion, environmental fate, toxicity to human and environmental organism • Exposure : • To the environment • To the human being  the workplace and the consumer • Exposure can be estimated by monitoring

  6. Monitoring • Results fluctuates according to the weather, seasons etc (Shigeki MIYACHI, 2007)

  7. Practice Laboratory • Conduct practice laboratory in HPTCAFF • Residue analysis of pesticides in soil  gas chromatography

  8. Practice Laboratory • Analysis of heavy metals in soil • ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma -Atomic Emission Spectrophotometry) and AAS • Analysis of biomass in soil treated with agricultural chemicals  luminometer

  9. Practice Laboratory • Rapid analysis of nitrate in vegetables  RQ flex • Water sampling and analysis  pH meter, ion chromatography and spectrophotometer • Laboratory practice is useful for my research • Laboratory in my institution has many instrumentation

  10. Interesting Subject • the basis of risk assessment and monitoring for environmental chemicals by Hideo Ohkawa  know understanding concept of risk assessment, risk management and risk communication • pesticides residue and positive list system by Katsuhiko Shimizu  introduction of pesticide analyze in laboratory • laboratory practice about analyze of pesticides using instrumentation in HPTCAFF • safety evaluation of chemicals by Shigeki Miyachi  understanding about chemicals in environment compartment

  11. Follow Up Any further subjects to be followed up : • Strategic of risk communication for socialization the result of monitoring to farmers and society • Strategic to make cooperation with other stakeholder to implement risk assessment, risk management and risk communication

  12. Theme of Action Plan Environmental Monitoring and Mapping on POPs in Malang - East Java, Indonesia

  13. DOMO ARIGATO GOZAIMASHITA
